First seen back in 2006, Dead Rising was released as an Xbox 360 launch title. The game featured a zombie invasion which centred on a beleaguered shopping mall and our unlikely hero Frank. Frank must basically survive the game whilst using pretty much anything he can get his hands on to assist his fight. Dead Rising is now set to make a comeback, being revamped and redistributed to the Nintendo Wii.
With an extraction chopper on course to arrive in three days, Frank must, however he can, suirvive those long 72 hours. this time period equates to roughly 6 hours gameplay. with the player at leisure to spend the time how they see fit, be that participating in the side quests and optional missions to level up, or simply zombie hunting throughout the malls!
The obvious attraction to this Wii port is the inclusion of motion controls, allowing the player to really get stuck into the zombie slaying. While the use of surrounding objects as weapons is accomplished with the A button, guns are aimed with the remote, and waggling the remote activates the special abilities of some weapons, such as the crazy flailing of a saw or a well aimed swipe with a bat.
Dead Rising was primarily celebrated for the unbound amount of weapons to use, ranging from the obvious to the makeshift to the downright insane! Just a few of the weapons available include chainsaws, baseball bats, plant pots, benches and tins of soup. Differing weapons are utilized to varying degrees of success, but use your head and you could create potential death traps.
Dead rising: Chop til you Drop is a welcome hiatus from the usual cutesy fare we're used to on the Nintendo Wii. The opportunity to get stuck into the action first hand and slay some zombies is something we've been waiting too long to experience. The best part is that the player can approach this game however they want. If all you desire is to slay untold numbers of zombies, feel feel. Whilst those who prefer a little more challenge to their games can opt for the large number of missions and side quests. However you approach it, Chop til you Drop is dead fun!
