Best PC games for 2009

PCs are set to receive a new wave of gaming goodness this year, with more and more titles becoming available and graphics/gameplay growing ever more impressive. Listed here are the top three games we're looking forward to seeing this year;

#3: Dragon Age: Origins

A game that's been in development for the better part of five years now, Bioware's Dragon Age: Origins is still garnering a huge amount of excitement ahead of its release later this year. We've already seen some concept demos and presentations, but fans are eager to see whether the game as a whole will live up to the hype. BioWare's experienced writers have worked hard to craft a world history of over 5000 years, leading to a vastly immersive world filled with locations, characters and creatures. Dragon Age: Origins promises to set a new benchmark in the RPG genre.

#2: Sims 3

After countless add-ons and expansions for Sims 2, EA are finally granting the public's wish and releasing Sims 3. This title will make a few very noticeable yet slight departures, mainly revolving around expanding the creation and customization aspects, allowing players to create 'any Sim they could imagine'. With quicker and smoother gameplay on offer, this title is bound to be as wildly popular as ever.

#1: StarCraft II: Wings Of Liberty

The long awaited sequel to Starcraft is finally in development. Not actually confirmed for 2009, we can but hope. Expect more of the highly popular real time strategy gameplay, with the obvious added tweaks to gameplay and graphics. The StarCraft 2 project actually consists of three games, each of which will focus on one of the game's different races. The first one to be released will be called Wings Of Liberty, and will focus on the Terrans. Legacy Of The Void and Heart Of The Swarm will focus on the Protoss and the Zerg, in that order. So cross your fingers and hope for a speedy release!
