Nintendo Game Boy
In the late 1980s, Nintendo released the Game Boy as one of the original hand-held gaming machines. Though extremely limited by today’s standards, the Game Boy enjoyed a peerless launch, as well as remaining a fan favourite even in the face of more capable releases, such as the Atari Lynx and Sega Game Gear.
The success of the Game Boy was put down to the ease of access and transportation compared to other bulkier models. Also, the Game Boy launched with the game Tetris, which became one of the most addictive and successful games ever released, and retains a cult following to this day.
The Game Boy also featured a link that allowed multiple systems to combine to play certain games, allowing for a limited early version of multi-play. The Game Boy legacy continued as updated versions appeared, including the Game Boy Colour and Game Boy Advance.
